Beijiao, covering an area of 92 km2, is located in the northeast of Shunde District, Foshan City and the hinterland of the Pearl River Delta. It is a domestically famous key industrial and commercial town. In 2016, it was included in the first batch of Chinese featured towns in 2016 through assessment and it ranked the 8th among 1,000 towns excellent in the nationwide comprehensive strength for consecutive two years.
Beijiao Town has such pillar industries as home appliances manufacture, metal materials, mechanical equipment manufacture and so on, along with obvious industrial characteristics. The home appliances manufacture industry is especially advantageous and has become an international-level home appliances production base accounting for over 10% of the domestic home appliances market. Beijiao Town owns two Fortune 500 enterprises with a market value of CNY 100 billion, Media and Country Garden. There are 11 listed and holding listed enterprises around the town.
In 2017, the district government, Midea Group and Kuka Group mutually drove settlement of the Shunde Intelligent Manufacturing Science Park in Beijiao, and smoothly introduced the Germany Kuka Robots and famous global unmanned aerial vehicles projects. Therefore, with the existing leading projects including Guangdong Industrial Design City, Huicong Appliance City, Midea Global Innovation Center, Guangdong (Tanzhou) International Convention Center and so on, Beijiao is changing from a key traditional home appliance manufacturing town to a key high-end intelligent manufacturing town.
Under the leadership of the national strategy: “One Belt, One Road” initiative, the local enterprises has enhanced their overseas investment development. Midea acquired Germany Kuka, Toshiba (home appliances), Clivet, an Italian central air conditioner manufacturer and Servotronix, an upstream Israeli robot business; Country Garden has arranged 7 overseas projects in Malaysia and Australia.
